Membership dues for the NMU-AAUP/AFT 6761 are 0.85% of your salary. This amount is a small investment considering the long-term benefits of union membership. For example, in our last contract negotiations, we were able to move the administration away from an offer that would have required a pay cut for full-time faculty members due to higher medical insurance to a final proposal that allowed full-time members to realize net annual gains of 1,500-3,000 dollars. For a faculty member making $50,000/year and paying $425/year in dues, they gained about four times what their dues cost as a result of the collective bargaining process. Our negotiating team also secured pay increases of 12% over five years for contingent faculty.
